Two Weeks+ in Cape May (Days 41- 57)

Cape May, New Jersey is a pretty fantastic place to wait for a new generator. The photo above is the Lobster House which was right next door to the marina (Utches) where we spent our first week. This is a great destination for fishermen and seafood lovers alike.
First we explored the waterways around Cape May in our Tender. There were a lot of different things to see.  We especially liked this unusual home and the BIG fishing vessels.

Our first weekend here was Memorial Day Weekend. We attended a unique Memorial Day remembrance ceremony. After the traditional ceremony at the downtown flag pole we all went down to the beach. With assistance from the local lifeguards, looking very “Baywatch”; The US Coast Guard launched a flower boat of remembrance complete with a three volley (rifle) salute and Taps. It was very moving as the boats moved away from the shore.

We spent the day with Looper friends, biking around town and hitting our favorite spot in Cape May the Willow farm Winery.

Cape May is also known for Victorian architecture and the darling pedestrian mall in the historic part of town.

Utches is a great Marina for meeting up with New Looper friends and they even have a chapel where we were able to attend services while in Cape May.

Paddle boarding is one of our favorite things to do, so of course we paddled in the waterways around our marina when it wasn’t too windy.  My knees can handle this as long as its not too choppy.

I can’t believe Mike talked me into going under this bridge.  True confession, I made him go first to check out the spider situation.

We were able to move over to the Canyon Club Marina where they worked on our generator.  We stayed at the service dock but were able to make frequent use of the beautiful infinity pool while we were here.

We also have the best view at the marina, but we have also endured a horrible stench at times from the horseshoe crabs they collect daily.
We also met some Loopers at Canyon Club Marina as well.  We had a lot of fun with them but forgot to take photos.  We do have a photo of the best, freshest Tuna I have ever had.  Mike and Gina from “This is What” had us over for brunch on their boat.  One of the fishermen on their dock gave her tuna right on the dock.  She happens to be a real chef! What a treat!

Mike has spent a lot of time here getting the generator ready to pull out. Here she goes, finally. Hopefully “on the road”or the water in a couple of days.

“I wait for the Lord, my whole being waits, and in his word I put my hope. I wait for the Lord more than watchmen wait for the morning, more than watchmen wait for the morning.”
