Georgian Bay Leg 3 Little Current, Baie Finn (Days 100-101)

We left Killarney early in the morning.  We needed to get too Little Current for a delivery and unfortunately this was a festival weekend and slips were on a first come first served basis.
We arrived in Little Current, but needed to wait for the swing bridge to open.  This is a two lane highway and the only road access to Manitoulin Island.
Mike was able to squeeze into the only spot along the dock behind this beautiful teaching ship.  They had many young people on board learning the ropes, even climbing the rigging. Roy in the photo above right runs the Cruiser.Net and is the Looper Harbor Host.  He allowed us to make a huge shipment to his home and he delivered it to the dock. He also invited us to a happy hour in town.
This is an example of Cruisers helping Cruisers.  We met these folks at the happy hour and mentioned that Mike couldn’t find a barber. She set up on our stern and our friend Jerry also got a haircut.
Mike “paid” her by providing Orange Crushes for her and all her friends.  We showed everyone that power boaters and sailors can get along!
The next morning we set out for Baie Finn.  This was a highlight of Mike’s trip to Georgian Bay as a teenager.
Baie Finn is a nine mile long fresh water fjiord.  The scenery was so beautiful I couldn’t decide what photos to use so I made a short one minute video.  Notice the lodge at the entrance to the fjiord.  The only way people can get there is by boat or sea plane.  The beautiful white cliffs along the way were impressive.
When we arrived at the upper pool, we anchored next to a rock cliff that went straight down into the water.  We actually could have tied off to the wall.
Our friends Jerry and Beth rafted up to us and we took our dinghy over to the park dock where we began our ascent up to Lake Topaz.  The lake is a beautiful turquoise blue and amazingly clear.
The climb was challenging at times.
But well worth the effort.  You can see that this was a very popular spot.
Mike and Jerry went snorkeling.  I thought it was too cold.
When we returned to our anchorage, many more vessels had made their way up to the pool.
It was so peaceful and calm.
In the morning we went paddle boarding.  The cottage on the right is Evinrude Island where Mike met Mr. Evinrude when he was a teenager. Just ask him to share that story with you.  It’s his favorite!
There are two streams that feed into the pool.  We went under logs to get upstream.
And found a beautiful, secluded waterfall.
Of course Mike had to slide down.
The trip out was just as beautiful as our trip upstream. I had to draw a map for our trip up Baie Finn below.  Absolutely off the grid.  Even NEBO couldn’t follow us.
Our Journey
