Generator Replacement and Final Days in Cape May (Days 58-62)

Our finals days in Cape May did not disappoint.  Having to remain in one spot for three weeks for a needed generator replacement could have been much worse.

While we stayed in a motel in town, we were able to dine on the beach. This was our favorite rooftop bar with local music every night.  We even saw dolphins from the deck!

We were on the beach for the beautiful Strawberry Moon rise.

Staying in one place provided the opportunity to meet many more Loopers.  We had a mass gathering at the South Jersey Marina with Loopers from 3 marinas.

We made many more friends and I was able to go touring in town as the “resident “expert with my new friends.

I got to get up close to the lighthouse previously seen from a distance.

We went to the farm stand. This was pretty upscale as far as farm stands go😁.

One of my favorites: we went back to the winery for the frozen sangria!

Last stop provisioning for the Loop with our bicycles and the new cooler backpack. This convenient location just a couple of blocks from the marina was where Mike had to go after his fight with the I beam as they were getting the new generator into the boat.  I didn’t get an after shot of the shiner he had the next day. Take my word for it, it was impressive.

Mike worked hard but he also had several opportunities to go Kiteboarding.  He loaded up the dinghy and found a little beach nearby.  Great therapy for him.

On our last day we did the trifecta on bikes with our new friends Don and Kay. The Cold Spring Brewery is a non-profit brewery in a state run historical village. The Nauti Distillery uses produce from their farm and has wonderful cocktails. The best discovery was the Turdo Winery.  They had excellent small batch wines. We all made it safely back to the marina.

For those who are interested we have a short video of the process of exchanging a generator in a 455 Cruisers Motor Yacht.  This is what Mike did while I toured the town. The amazing part of this is that we were able to do this in 3 weeks.  We found out from the dealer how “lucky” we were.  Most people are waiting nearly a year to get a replacement generator.  That would have been a Loop stopper for sure.

Oh, how abundant is your goodness, which you have stored up for those who fear you and worked for those who take refuge in you.
