Boca Chica Vogelzaangs (Days 254-258)

Our next set of visitors came from Michigan.  Cindy and John were up for anything so that’s what we did!

Their first day was a rainy day but that didn’t stop us. We had breakfast at Blue Heaven. It was once a bordello then a boxing venue where matches were occasionally refereed by Ernest Hemingway. Today it’s unique restaurant with chickens and cats wandering around the courtyard. We were lucky to get a table with a roof!

After the weather cleared, we went back to the southern most point.

There, Mike tried to point even further south.

There were beautiful fishing vessels off shore.

John received a special welcome at the Butterfly Garden.

The butterflies were abundant and colorful.

The Sunset Celebration at Mallory Square features many street performers.  I was lucky enough to be chosen out of the crowd to be a juggler's assistant. This video shows snippets of the knife throwing part of the act.

Even though I missed getting the knives to him, we parted as friends.

Cindy and John got a cottage at the Navy base location in town so we all stayed up a little later and kept the party going one night.

Those of you who know me well now that I love word games.  Well, there is an establishment called Mary Ellens that has a weekly spelling bee.  Of course I wanted to play. The caveat for this game is that you take a drink after each correct word. Oh my! I was eliminated in the final round on the word “psygomometer.” Yes, it’s a real word.

“He makes grass grow for the cattle, and plants for people to cultivate— bringing forth food from the earth: wine that gladdens human hearts, oil to make their faces shine, and bread that sustains their hearts.”
‭‭Psalms‬ ‭104‬:‭14‬-‭15‬ ‭NIV‬‬
